JEFF PILSON Goes Solo At L.A. Gig, Continues Work On LYNCH Collaboration
May 5, 2002L.A.'s UNDERGROUND MOON, featuring former DOKKEN bassist Jeff Pilson, have been forced to cancel their Wednesday, May 8th appearance at The Gig, 7302 Melrose Ave. in West Hollywood due to drummer Glen Schricker fracturing his foot. In lieu, Pilson will be making a solo acoustic appearance on the same date playing songs off the self-titled UNDERGROUND MOON debut as well as other selections.
In related news, Pilson and ex-DOKKEN guitarist George Lynch are busy mixing the debut album from their as-yet-unnamed project at a Los Angeles studio. According to Pilson, the record with George is truly turning into our best work ever. We're nearly done mixing and ready to start shopping for the right team and labels to get this out there. I don't think I've ever felt as confident and musically fulfilled by a record before. I know singing has something to do with the emotional connection to it, but I really think the quality of the songs will be the overriding highlight. All the textures are there, real heavy, extremely melodic, some pretty heavy lyrics as well as a couple tongue-in-cheek songs [can't take ourselves too seriously!] Plus George and [drummer] Fro are playing their respective asses off and we managed to come up with a very powerful band vibe and the record grooves!! There are even a couple of real trio jams going on that are so amazingly cool. Not only is the record very powerful, but it's really 'alive' with energy. It really has become the record we've always wanted to make.
